Sports massage is often used by athletes as part of their routine training programme as well as for sports injury rehabilitation, competition preparation and recovery. However, anyone can benefit from sports massage either as a general deep tissue massage or for chronic muscle tension, muscle strains ("pulled" muscles), postural problems or repetitive strain injuries.

Benefits of sports massage include:

A sports massage treatment, especially if targeting specific injuries, will often also include other techniques such as different types of stretches or range of movement tests and exercises. I use a lot of passive, active and resisted forms of stretching in all my treatments; these include soft tissue release, muscle energy technique (also known as PNF stretching) and active isolated stretching.
